1 Oct 1805: Mary Barrett: "it being inconvenient to me to Administer on the estate of my Husband Samuel Barrett Late of Hopkinton Deceased Intestate ... request that Mr Moses Chamberlain may be appointed to that trust."
5 Oct 1805: Nancy Freeland: "I renounce my right of administration on the estate of my Father Samuel Barrett Late of Hopkinton Deceased unto Moses Chamberlain."
5 Nov 1805: We the subscribers inhabitants of Hopkinton being well acquainted with John Barrett son of Samuel Barrett Late of Hopkinton Deceas'd do hereby certify that in our judgement s'd John Barriet is not capable of administering on said deceaseds estate. 6 Nov 1805: Memorial of Moses Chamberlain of Hopkinton gentleman: "...that Mary Barrett widow of said dec'd hath renounced her right to the administration of said and Nancy one of the next of kin hath also renounced her right thereto and that John Barrett the only remaining person next of kin in the same degree is wholly incapable and evidently unsuitable to exercise said trust - Wherefore because the said widow and the said Nancy have desired the said memorialist to undertake said trust he prays that he may be appointed ...". Bond dated the same day.
