1 Oct 1805: Mary Barrett: "it being inconvenient to me to Administer on the estate of my Husband Samuel Barrett Late of Hopkinton Deceased Intestate ... request that Mr Moses Chamberlain may be appointed to that trust." 5 Oct 1805: Nancy Freeland: "I renounce my right of administration on the estate of my Father Samuel Barrett Late of Hopkinton Deceased unto Moses Chamberlain." 5 Nov 1805: We the subscribers inhabitants of Hopkinton being well acquainted with John Barrett son of Samuel Barrett Late of Hopkinton Deceas'd do hereby certify that in our judgement s'd John Barriet is not capable of administering on said deceaseds estate. Nathan Perry, Sam'l Phipps, Francis HHomes, Walter McFarland, Nath'l Loring 6 Nov 1805: Memorial of Moses Chamberlain of Hopkinton gentleman: "...that Mary Barrett widow of said dec'd hath renounced her right to the administration of said and Nancy one of the next of kin hath also renounced her right thereto and that John Barrett the only remaining person next of kin in the same degree is wholly incapable and evidently unsuitable to exercise said trust - Wherefore because the said widow and the said Nancy have desired the said memorialist to undertake said trust he prays that he may be appointed ...". Bond dated the same day. 30 Dec 1805: Inventory: $2550.82 7 Apr 1806: Set off to Mary Barrett, widow, her thirds to hold as tenant in dower. Countersigned by Mary Barrett, Nancy Freeland, John Barrett. 15 Oct 1806: Accounting of Moses Chamberlain allowed. 12 Jan 1808: Petition of Asa Eames, "Guardian of John Barrett, a spendthrift & one of the heirs of Samuel Barrett late of Hopkinton in said county yeoman", for partitioning of real estate. 12 Apr 1808: Second accounting of Moses Chamberlain allowed. Countersigned by Nancy Freeland and Asa Eames, Guardian to John Barrett 14 Apr 1808: Division: to John Barrett only son of the said deceased; to Nancy Freeland, widow (only daughter of said Deceased). Signed by Nancy Freeland and Asa Eames, Guardian to John Barrett. 7 Apr 1813: Petition of Ann Freeland of Boston in the County of Suffolk, widow, that dower was assigned to Mary Barrett late of said Hopkinton, by her death, reverts to heirs and prays for division. 4 May 1813: Division of the estate which was assigned to Mary Barrett deceased (late the widow of Samuel Barrett late of Hopkinton in the county of Middlesex yeoman deceased intestate) as her dower": to John Barrett only son of said deceased; to Nancy Freeland only Daughter of said deceased.
