SALLY wife of NAHUM GODDARD DIED June 26 1846 AE 75. [Birth about 1771.]
↑Source:Vinton, John Adams. Richardson Memorial, p. 224 and 225, clearly makes no sense regarding the wife of Nahum Goddard. On page 224 he indicates Sarah, d/o Thomas Richardson and Mehitable -- m. (1) 1776 Ebenezer Richardson, which may be correct, but is clearly not the wife of Nahum who was only 5 at the time based on her age at death. Nevertheless, Vinton goes on to say that this Sarah m. (2) 1801 Nahum Goddard of Petersham, i.e., to a man who was barely born at the time of her first marriage.
Ironically on the facing page, p. 225, Vinton appears to contradict himself by saying Ebenezer Richardson m. (1) (int.) 7 Oct 1747 Mary Richardson and m. (2) 1776 Sarah Richardson who d. Woburn 7 Sep 1815, aged 88, with no comment about Sarah marrying a second time. The death in Woburn on 7 Sep 1815, besides clearly not belonging to the widow of Nahum Goddard, is listed in the records as belonging to "Mary, widow of ---", i.e., not even to Sarah, so almost nothing Vinton says here even makes sense. There is further discussion of Vinton's confusion on Ebenezer's page.
