Sally Jo Hall Baxter, 57, of rural Lafayette, died at 5:05 PM Tuesday, April 28, 1998, in Lafayette Home Hospital. Born May 20, 1940, in Lafayette, she was a graduate of Jefferson High School and St. Luke's Presbyterian School of Nursing, Chicago, on a scholarship. She was married to Robert Duane Baxter on July 30, 1961, in Lafayette, and he survives.
Mrs. Baxter was a licensed staff assistant for State Farm insurance agent Paul Ostheimer for 14 years. She was a special advocate for special education and the handicapped. She was a member of Buck Creek United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer. She also served on the GLASS board of directors.
Surviving with her husband are a son, Greg A. Baxter; a daughter, Lori Jo Baxter; her mother, Dorothy Erhart Hall, all of Lafayette; two sisters, Linda Hall of Lafayette and Jane Platt of Oshkosh, WI; and three grandchildren. Preceded in death by her father, Milton Hall.
