Souderton Independent, Souderton, PAWednesday, 11 Apr 1990, page 4SALLIE YERKSallie Yerk, 73, a resident of the Gwynedd Square Center, Upper Gwynedd, formerly of Telford, died Wednesday in North Penn Hospital, Lansdale, where she had been a patient for one week.She was the widow of Arthur E. Yerk, who died in November 1985.Born in Sumneytown, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Sarah (Shaffer) Walter.Mrs. Yerk had been a resident of Main street, Telford, for more than 20 years prior to entering the Gwynedd Square nursing center in 1987.She was employed as a seamstress for more than 40 years in the garment industry in the Souderton and Telford areas until her retirement in 1981.Mr. Yerk was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sumneytown, and the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union, Local 119, Allentown.Surviving are a daughter, Shirley A. Trumbauer of Green Lane; two sons, Larry C. of Sellersville and E. Terry of Telford - 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Clara Hendricks of Pennsburg.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Arthur, in July 1979, and a granddaughter, Sherry Yerk, in November 1978.Services were held Saturday. The Sommers-Sadler Funeral Home, Telford, was in charge of arrangements.
