  3.   Source:Ward, Andrew Henshaw. Genealogical History of the Rice Family : Descendants of Deacon Edmund Rice appears to have interchanged two Ruth Rices, the daughter of Edmund, b. 1712, and the daughter of Joseph, b. 1721, a confusion that is noted on the website of Source:Edmund Rice (1638) Association. Ward presents abstracts of both wills, and Joseph only mentions a daughter Ruth, which offers no clue as to her marriage, while Edmund's will precedes both marriages so his use of "Ruth Rice" for his daughter does not help. Rather than the pairings in Ward, the wife of John Barnes is more likely the daughter of Joseph based on her age at death, 30 in 1752, which matches well the b. of Joseph's daughter in 1721 and makes her about 10 years too young to be Edmund's daughter. The wife of Joseph Brigham (and, before that, Elisha Ward) is more likely the daughter of Edmund based on her age at death, 74 in 1786, which matches the b. of Edmund's daughter in 1712 and matches the ages of her two husbands much better than Joseph's daughter.
