Marion Watt has: RUTH R. MCLAIN, b. January 25, 1876, Northwest Twp., Williams Co., Ohio RECORD OF BIRTHS, PROBATE COURT, BRYAN, WILLIAMS CO. OHIO. Book 2, page 8, entry 29. also in Book 1, page 103, entry 25. "Ruth R. McLain, b. 25 Jan Jan 1876, Northwest Township, Williams Co., Ohio. Parents: Wm. H. McLain and Clara Graves" In other instances in the same area, the parents listed on birth records are not the correct couples (Marriages). The clerk admitted that it seemed to possibly be incorrectly recorded records. In some cases it appears whoever reported the birth was put on as the mother. I think that probably the parent in this case is Esther Conklin McLain, Wm. H. McLain's wife.
