Ruth Couch


QUAPAW, Okla. … Ruth Garrett Couch, 78, Quapaw, died at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 1997, at Freeman Hospital East, Joplin, of a massive cerebral hemorrhage.

Mrs. Couch was born in Picher, Okla., Nov. 11, 1918. She moved to Quapaw from the Miami/Picher area. She was the social director of a Quapaw nursing home for several years.

She was a member of the Southeast Baptist Church, Miami.

She married the Rev. Leslie Couch, Jr. on June 15, 1967 at Miami. He survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Ted Garrett, El Reno, Okla.; a daughter, Susan Lloyd, Pittsburg, Kan.; three stepdaughters, Kim Baldwin, Miami, Ida Parkison, Cardon, Okla., and Mary Spicer, Miami; one brother, Warren Gough, Noel, Mo.; one sister, Christina Willard, Joplin; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.
