"Ruth Elizabeth Keeney was born in Lane County, Oregon on the 20th day of Feb. 1858. She was one of a family of five children--Silas, John, Nettie, Ruth, and Leathe. Ruth, my mother, John, who was blind, and Leathe came to the Pilot Rock country with their parents, Eli and Elizabeth Keeney in abouth the year 1873."
