    Ruth Elaine Mullins

    Ruth Elaine Mullins, a 90-year-old resident of Mercer, died on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA.

    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton. Rev. Mark Willis will officiate. Burial will be in the Middlepoint Cemetery, west of Mercer.

    Open visitation begins at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, with family visitation from 10 a.m. until service time.

    Mrs. Mullins was born on March 25, 1917 at Cainsville, the daughter of James W. and Elsie Herron Bears. She graduated from high school in Indianola, IA in 1935. She was married on Dec. 16, 1946 to Lial Arless Mullins, who preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2003. The couple lived most of their lives in Des Moines and Ankeny, IA. While there, she worked in retail sales for W.T. Grant Company in Des Moines. After her retirement in 1974, the family moved to their farm near Mercer. After her husband’s death, she moved to Des Moines to make her home. She was a member of the W.T. Grant Retirees Group.

    Mrs. Mullins is survived by a son, Bill Mullins and his wife, Judith, of Osceola, IA; two daughters, Mary Meyers and her husband, Gerald, of Great Falls, MT, and Pat Saffell and her husband, Don, of Des Moines; a sister, Mary Nims, and her husband, Lee, of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

    In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
