Indenture 1st/2nd April 1723/4 between GEORGE GREEN Parish of Hanover King George County and RUSH HUDSON of same ... by deeds of Lease and Release ... for six thousand pounds of good tobacco sold land on lower side of the western main branch of Poulbridges Creek adjoining upon the land of RUSH HUTSON and RiCHARD BUTLER also upon land of Mr. ROWLAND THORNTON dividing from the land of ELIZABETH GREEN Mother to the said GEORGE GREEN her orchard or housing to the said branch of Poultridges creek which is called by the name of Bald Eagle Run to include sixty and five acres of land being part of a Patent granted by the Proprietors of the Northern Neck of Virginia unto GEORGE GREEN late of the said County deceased father to the said GEORGE GREEN party to these presents for 885 acres ... Presence Isaac Arnold, George Green. John x Kendall. SARAH the wife of the said GREEN relinquished her right of dower and thirds in and to the same ... 3rd April 1724 ... [Note: Following his death, this 65 ac descends to his son Rush Hudson who sells it in 1746 to Francis Thornton.]

• 1723 - King George County Court 3rd of May 1723 - Ordered that RUSH HUTSON be Surveyor of the Highways from INDIAN NEDS CREEK and that he forthwith take care that the same be well cleared and cleared according to Law. WILLIAM STROTHER, JEREMIA STROTHER, ISAAC ARNOLD, WILLIAM TRIPLET, PETER JETT, JOHN PAINE, JAMES KEY, THOMAS jEFFRYS, CHRISTOPHER EDRINGTON, JAMES WHITE, JOHN WILLIS, SAMUEL WHARTON, ROWLAND THORNTON, CHRISTOPHER ROGERS, JOHN JETT, JOHN GRIMSLY and JOHN OWENS were sworn a Grand jury for the body of this County and having received their charge went out and they being again returned into Court having made several Presentments. Ordered that RUSH HUDSON, THOMAS JAMES, THOMAS GREEN. WILLIAM TRIPLET, JOHN HARVEY, JOHN CHRISTOPHER and JOHN SEBASTIAN be severally summoned by the Sherif to appear at the next Court to answer the Presentment of the Grand jury. • 1726 - King George County - gives bond for Estate of David Jones

Inventory and appraisement of the Estate of DAVID JONES decd. Items valued and totalled 95.5.1 ... includes two negro women and a negro girl, made by appraisers Saml. Wharton Richd. Tankersley, Wm. Marshall ... At a court held 1st July 1726 ... MARTHA JONES widow and administratrix of DAVID JONES deed presented this inventory which was ordered to be recorded. Bond of MARTHA JONES in the sum of 200 pounds Sterling dated 6th May 1726. Bondsmen Rush Hudson, Neal McCormack. [KGC Inventory Bk ?:76-77]

• 1734 - King George County - 5 Mar 1734/35 buys 2 tracts of land from William Wood (son of his wife Sarah's previous husband Henry Wood by his first wife). Land includes 140 ac on which he is currently living and on which Henry Wood formerly lived and 100 ac that appears to have been part of the estate of John Willis, another one of Sarah's former husbands. WOOD "sells to said HUDSON those two tracts of land (1) contains 140 acres binding on lands of Col. PAGE, John TAYLOR, and on land on which said RUSH HUDSON now dwells ... and whereon Henry WOOD, dec'd formerly lived ... and bounding on a creek ... (2) contains 100 acres whereon George PARSONS now dwells, adjacent to land of Rowland THORNTON [brother of Francis THORNTON], JOHN WILLIS, and Edmund DONOHOE ... being formerly purchased by said HENRY WOOD, father of the said WILLIAM WOOD from John HANSFORD ... and both tracts of land descended to said Wm. WOOD as heir at law of the aforesaid Henry WOOD , dec'd. ... sells for one ear of corn. This 100 acres was sold by WM. WILLIS to HANSFORD 1709. Wit.: Benj. • 1735 - 7 Nov 1735 - Administration of the estate of Rush Hudson, deceased, is granted to Edward Turberville and Sarah, his wife, and they entered into bond 7 Nov 1735 with Thomas Thatcher, Benjamin Berryman, Isaac Arnold and Neal McCormick, their securities. [KGC Bond Book 2:8b]

  • The inventory of the estate of Rush Hudson included seven slaves, five beds, livestock, nearly 200 lbs. of pot iron and 60 lbs. of 'best pewter', cooper and carpenter tools, and other items commonly found in inventories at that time. [King George County Order Book 2:39 and Inventory Book 200].
