Pvt - 1st Battalion Texas Sharp Shooters - Burnet's Battalion - Conferate States Army. Enlisted in Lamar County, Aug 1, 1862. Was wounded in the Battle of Indianola in late Feb of 1963. Died in the Marksville Hospital. Left behind wife (Mary Jane) and 3 children (Sarah, Lewis and John) in Lamar County Texas.

Rufus Gleason died in the General Hospital in Marksville, Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana.
