    RUBY M. DIAL, 88, of Woodburn and formerly of South Whitley, died at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne where she was admitted on the 12th. She was born July 23, 1920 in Montpelier, Indiana a daughter of Loyd E. and Virga (Zeigler) Anderson. As a young girl, her family moved to Ohio for a short time then to Allen County and later to Washington Township, Whitley County when she was a teenager. She graduated from Washington Center High School. On February 22, 1942 she was united in marriage to Robert S. Dial. They made their home in Laud for four years before moving to a farm in Washington Township. They later moved to a farm in Cleveland Township until 1991 when they moved into South Whitley. In December 2005 they moved to Woodburn. Mr. Dial died January 12, 2006. A bookkeeper, she was employed at the Mayer Branch of Farmer's Loan & Trust for 20 years. She was a member of Washington Center United Methodist Church until 1970 when she transferred her membership to South Whitley United Methodist Church. Surviving relatives include a son, Robert H. (Donna) Dial of Woodburn; five grandchildren, Troy, Jason, Jarod and Drew Dial and Davah Engle; two great grandchildren, Domnic & Rashel Dial; two brothers, Emmett Anderson of Winona Lake and Dan Anderson of Defiance, Ohio; and three sisters, Mary Fletcher of Warsaw, Clara Mitchell and Anna Keirn, both of Columbia City. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Ronald; and seven brothers, James, Carl, John, Mark, Roy, Donald and Russell Norman Anderson. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at South Whitley United Methodist Church, 6685 W State Road 14 with Rev. Paul Burris, church pastor, officiating. The burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley and one hour before the service at the church on Friday. For those who wish, memorials may be made to South Whitley United Methodist Church.
