Roy Raymond Ahola Sr., age 62, of Kincheloe, Michigan, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace, Michigan.
He was born December 2, 1946 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the son of John Jacob Ahola and Ila Pearl (Wonnacott) Ahola. Roy grew up in Dafter and Pickford, Michigan. He lived and worked in Lansing, Michigan for 15 years. He worked at Dana Corporation which forged steel for the automotive industry. Since then the has lived in Grand Rapids, Holland, and most recently, Kincheloe, Michigan. Roy was a hard worker who took pride in a job well done. He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and enjoyed bowling and working on cars.
Roy Ahola was survived by one son, Roy Raymond Ahola Jr. of Wyoming, Michigan; two daughters, Melissa Streetman of Grand Rapids and Beverly Ahola of Kincheloe; and two grandchildren, Helen Streetman and Taylor Jayemeeker. Also surviving are his sister and caregiver, Mary (Temple) Laux Sr. of Kincheloe; brother, John (Merrilee) Ahloa Sr. of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews. Roy was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Beatrice Polaczyk and Gladys Smith.
