Robert's will dated 2 Dec 1853 makes his wife his immediate heir to hold during her life and after her death for his estate to be inherited by William Turvey. William is described as a "wire worker" (the same description used in his later marriage) and his stepfather, Henry Walters, is named as the witness to a bond that William gave when he was appointed administrator of Robert's estate. Robert's relationship to William is not given but given the ages involved it is assumed Robert is William's great uncle. Robert Turvey's smith in Downend was mentioned in the 1899 publication "Our Parish Mangotsfield, Including Downend: A Brief Account Of Its Origin And History", written by Arthur Emlyn Jones: "his workshop on Cleve Road, Downend, was owned and carried out by him and a Mr John Hale worked for him".
