Robert Keith Rodman, Sr., 87 years old, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. Robert was born November 25, 1927 near Breda, Iowa in Carroll County, to Hurley and Bernice (Auen) Rodman. He married Bonnie Ashinger and to this marriage, two children were born. He married Beverly Mouw, she preceded him in death. On December 31, 2001 he married Jo Ann (Clark) Rodman in Kirksville, Missouri. Survivors include: his wife, Jo Ann Rodman of the home; one son, Bob Rodman, Jr. (Becky) of Whiting, Iowa; 5 step children, Kristi Mason (Rick) of Novinger, Missouri, Julie Drake (Chris) of Des Moines, Iowa, Scott Howard of Fordham, Missouri, Matthew Howard of Kirksville, and Ashley Eiler (Don Williams) of Kirksville; 6 grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 step great grandson; 3 brothers, Harold Rodman (Frannie) of Sioux City, Iowa, Don Rodman (Carol) of Sioux City, and Jim Rodman (Sheryl) of Kirksville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; a daughter, Beth Ann; a brother, Darwin Rodman; and a sister, Mary Ann in infancy. Robert grew up and was baptized at Wheatland Presbyterian Church and was currently a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kirksville. Bob knew the Lord and considered him his dearest friend. Robert graduated from Wall Lake High school in 1944. Robert was a veteran in the United States Navy during World War II. He has lived in Kirksville for the past 3 years; He has previously lived in Afton, Iowa, Wall Lake, Iowa, and the Pollock/Green City, Missouri area. He farmed in Iowa and Missouri for many years, had a roofing business in Missouri, and after retirement he enjoyed buying older homes, renovating them, and selling or renting them. Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman. His favorite fishing spots were 3 Mile and 12 Mile lakes in Iowa. He loved showing his family and friends where all the crappie was in the lake. He most loved fishing with his children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, March 20, 2015, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kirksville. Robert will be cremated after the service, and he will be inurned at 1:30 PM, Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Wheatland Cemetery in Breda, Iowa. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family. |
