PORTIS, ---, "Father", of Boston, at his daughter's Weld, bur. -- : 5 m : 1681. CR1 [Note: In old-styles dates, the fifth month is July. More info may be found here.]
Will of "Robert Porteous of Boston ... weake in body" dated 22 Jun 1861, proved 20 Jul 1681, names brother Daniel Brewer; brother Nathanael Brewer; remainder to my Son in Law John Weld and my daughter Hannah his wife. John Weld to be executor. "Beloved ffriends Daniel Brewer and Nathaniel Brewer my Brethren" to be overseers. [Note: this is a tantalizing but ambiguous reference to the Brewers. While the use of "friends" weakens the chance that brethren means brother in law, that Daniel and Nathaniel were themselves brothers and both "brethren" to Robert reinvigorates it. More research needed.]
