Notes
- From Genforum Message Board:
- My Grandfather Robert McLaughlin was born in 1796 in Bath Co., VA but I don't know who his relatives were. There are McLaughlins in Pocahontas Co., Bath Co., Highland Co. and Pendleton Co.
- Robert signed an affidavit on February 19, 1851 St. Joseph Co., Indiana regarding his service in the 35th Regiment of Infantry enlisting in Richmond Virginia and served under Captain Walker in this company from August 23, 1813 to March 20 1814. He was discharged on account of being a minor. The 35th was under the command of Colonel Gooden.
- He later enlisted in the 5th (can't read clearly) Regiment of Militia Virgnia from February 3rd, 1815 to April 1815. The 5th Regiment was under the command of Captain John Bodkins (Botkin or Botkins) who was commanded by Major Green.
- These records were obtained from the National Archives.
