    30 July 1856, Simpson County, MS, Robert Magee, age 63 years, resident of Covington County, MS, appeared and declared that he was a private in the company of Capt James McGowen in the Pressed Militia of Mississippi commanded by Col Nixon in the War of 1812, that he was ordered out by the Governor about the last of Dec 1814 or first of Jan 1815, and was stationed at Fordsville on the Pearl River in Marion County, and that he continued in service for at least fourteen days, and was discharged at Fordsville about 1 Feb 1815. He makes declaration for purpose of obtaining bounty land to which he may be entitled under the Act of 3 March 1855.

    11 June 1878, Simpson County, MS, Margaret Magee, age 84 years of Covington County, MS appeared and declared that she was widow of Robert Magee, that she was married to him in Pike County, Mississippi on 11 Nov 1813, that her maiden name was Margaret Graves, that Robert Magee died in Covington County 11 Nov 1859. Her husband obtained bounty land (under the Act of 1855), number 57840 for 160 acres.

    30 Sept 1878, Covington County, MS, Margaret Magee, age 84 years of said county appeared and declared that she was the same Margaret Magee who applied for pension under the act of 14 Feb 1871, and who with regard to her marriage, states that she knows of no church or other public record of her marriage by which she can prove the same, but that she has a family record containing the date of the births of her own children which she herewith forwards. [The widow requested the Bible record be returned. The Clerk transcribed the marriages in the Family Record below, but no births. No explanation was given for choosing to transcribe the marriages, but not the births].
    Also appeared Amanda Elanor Norwood and Emanuel Jackson Magee, children of Robert and Margaret, who testified to their marriage.
