    Robert M. Fowler, Jr., 95, passed away on October 12, 2015 in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 16, 2015 in Lunn’s Colonial Chapel with Ken Holsberry officiating. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM in Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

    Robert known to many friends as Bob was born December 9, 1919, in Tribbey, Oklahoma to Robert M. Fowler, Sr. and Lois (Atwood) Fowler. He attended the University of Oklahoma and loyally supported the Sooners. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII in the Battle of the Bulge earning the Silver and Bronze Star medals. During the Korean conflict Captain Fowler was a Field Artillery instructor at Ft. Bliss, Texas. Following military service he worked over 40 years in the oil and gas industry as an employee of Burk Royalty, participating in pioneering gas well exploration in the Texas panhandle. Mr. Fowler married Virginia Anderson of Gainesville who preceded him in death in 2008.

    Bob was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Madge Mitchell. He is survived by a daughter, Jane Fowler Root of Austin; 1 grandson;;1 great-grandson;2 great-granddaughters (by marriage) and 1 great-great grandaughter.

    Mr. Fowler was a member of the Edgemere Church of Christ. While continuing part time employment with Burk Royalty he had resided happily at Rolling Meadows assisted living facility for the past 15 months and passed away following a social event with his friends.
