Bob was born to William and Mary Platz Boyer in Wilsey, Kan.
The family moved to Caldwell when he was in the fourth grade and where he later graduated from high school.
He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and attended pilot school at the University of Arkansas. He made lieutenant and was a pilot of B-25s and then P-38s in the South Pacific.
He married Maxie C. Boyer May 2, 1949, in Elko, Nev. They moved to Clarkston in 1950, where he was offered a job as manager of Schurman Wasem's Furniture, Hardware and Pharmacy; he stayed there until 1958, when the couple bought the Clarkston Furniture Co.; they retired in 2008.
He was a member of the Clarkston Planning Commission, the Tri-State Memorial Hospital Board and a First Presbyterian Church trustee.
Bob fished on Asotin Creek and the Grand Ronde with his sons and spent pleasurable time on the Snake River boating, camping and water skiing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Boyer; and a brother, Kenneth Boyer.
