    "Beacham, Robert. The surname is a corruption of Beauchamp, following the English pronunciation. He was of Ipswich, Mass., 1648, of Norwalk by 1655, and removed to Fairfield by 1658. He acquired the right at Bankside or Maximus [Westport] which had belonged to Thomas Newton. … Will of Robert of Maxemus Farms, 24 Nov. 1689; gr. Children Robert and Susanna Lockwood; other two grandchildren John and Sarah Lockwood; land already given to Edward Jessup; wife Elizabeth; son-in-law Joseph Lockwood.
