    "Bassett, Robert, s. of John. Chief Drummer, New Haven Col, Troop, June 1654. Carpenter, took the oath at New Haven 1644. Town drummer, 1645. Removed to Stamford by 1651, and in 1653 was brought to New Haven for riotous support of Baxter and sedition in fiery speech aimed at tyranny of the colonial government; placed under bond of £100 to keep the peace. Removed to Hempstead, L. I., where he died about 1670."
