"Robert Ballew was undoubtedly the youngest son of Leonard and Susannah Ballew because his mother stated Robert Ballew was to receive schooling in her will, but did not make similar provisions for other sons. Also, Susannah left many household goods to Robert Ballew, which indicates he was not living on his own. Lastly, he was under 16 in 1745 since he was not on the 1745 tithable list with his father and brothers Joseph, John, and Bennett Ballew."
"Robert Ballew's birth date is based being 21 when he purchased land from his brother John Ballew in 1760. This would mean he was under 21 when he patented land in 1750, a not uncommon occurrence. Robert Ballew was probably not the Robert Ballew who witnessed his mother's will since legatees are generally not accepted as witnesses...."
