Facts and Events
A transcription of his will: In the name of God Amen I Robert Almond of Wigan in the County of Lancaster Buckle Maker Do make this my last Will and Testament in Manner following (that is to say) I Order and direct that all my just Debts Funerall Expences and the Charges of the Probate hereof be paid Out of all my Personall Estate (Except the Tools and Implements of my Trade) by my Executrix hereinafter named I Do give devise and bequeath the Messuage Burgage or Dwelling House with the Appurtenances in the Milngate Street in Wigan aforesaid wherein I now dwell unto my Son Roger Almond his Heirs and Assignes for ever to enter upon and enjoy the same to his and their Own lifes, on the first Day of May which shall happen next after my Decease and to be entitled to the Rents Issues and Profits thereof from that time but not sooner, I Do also give and bequeath to my said Son Roger Almond all the working Tools and Implements of my Trade of what nature or kind the same shall be that I shall be possessed of or entitled unto at my Decease -- And as for and concerning all the Rest, residue and Remainder of my Estate as well the Messuages Burgages or dwelling houses situate in the Milngate aforesaid and in the Hallgate Street in Wigan aforesaid with their and every of their Appurtenances as all other my Estate both real and personall which I shall or may be seized or possessed of interested in or entitled unto at my Decease, I do Give devise and bequeath the same unto my loving wife Ann Almond her Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever Upon Trust and Confidence Nevertheless that my said Wife or her Assigns shall and may have receive and take the Rents Issues and Profits of my Real Estate, and leave and enjoy the use benefit and produce of my personal Estate for and during her Natural life and from and after her decease upon further Trust That her Heirs Executors and Administrators shall and do sell and dispose of my said Real and Personal Estate as soon as conveniently may be after her decease for the best price or prices that can or may be gotten for the same and to pay divide and distribute the moneys to be raised thereby unto and amongst my said Son and my Grand Children the Children of my Daughter Ann Gaulter Widow deceased in such shares and proportions at such time or times and in such manner as my said Wife shall by her last Will and Testament in writing duly executed or by any writing purporting to be her last Will and Testament under her Hand and Seal duly executed in the presence of two or more credible witnesses direct limit or Appoint and for want of such Direction Limitation or Appointment unto and amongst my said Son and my Grand Children or such of them as shall be living at the decease of my said Wife equally share and share alike and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever And lastly I do hereby nominate institute and appoint my said Wife Sole Executrix of this my will which I declare to be my last and hereby revoke all former and other wills by me at any time heretofore made In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my Hand and Seal this Nineteenth Day of March 1757, Robart Almond Signed Sealed, published and declared by the said Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of Us who have hereunto subscribed our Names as Witnesses at his request and in his presence Agnes Whitehouse Jno Lemington Rbt Winstandley
