"194. Richard1 Syle was the schoolmaster in Rowley from about 1697 to the time of his death. He married (2) in Newbury, 31 Aug., 1697, Anna, widow of Joseph Scott. … He married (3) 28 Oct., 1719, Mary,* widow of Robert Greenough. He died 22 Feb., 1721-2. His will, dated 26 Mar., 1720, mentions wife, Mary; daughter Mary Bennington; daughter Elizabeth Feathergel; Margaret Joans; son John, who is to have the real estate after his mother's death. (Essex Probate, 313:405).

*His intention of marriage with Abia Browne, of Ipswich, was published in Ipswich, 12 Sept., 1719, but they were not married."

From the above, it is apparent that he had a wife prior to Anna _____, and at least two, possibly three daughters prior to son John.
