1739-40. ... Richard, son of Bartholomew Pearson ... Feb. 10.
↑ Since the previous child was born 1737/38, and the next in 1742, it would be expected that the birth date is 13 Feb 1739/40. However, this puts it 3 days after the nominal baptism date. The habit of the family seems to be to baptize the children mere days after birth, i.e., not waiting nearly a year. One of the simplest possibilities would seem to be that the baptism date was misread as 10 instead of 16, but without inspecting the original, we cannot say what is right and what is wrong.
