17. RICHARD HANBURY: (16 Richard) He lived in the first half of the sixteenth century. In 1524, Henry VII (1491-1547) granted him the manor of Elmley Lovett and a large amount of land. Elmley Lodge, the manor house, was said to be haunted and was pulled down about 1890. Richard married a daughter of Philip Bassett of Elmley Lovett. They had three sons. Children (HANBURY) 21. JOHN the eldest son. 22. Thomas of Bellington Farm. He had four sons and one daughter. NFI. 23. William of Sneads Green, married Joan, by whom he had twins, William and Elizabeth, baptized at Elmley Lovett on November 10, 1541. He was buried at Elmley Lovett on August 25, 1677. His widow, Joan, was buried on February 10, 1586. Their only son, William predeceased them and was buried on May 23, 1574. NFI. References
