    ...died 19 June 1779, of an overdose of cicuta, a remedy prescribed by British Army surgeons at Newport. Richard, who was a Tory, had permission from Colony authorities to go to Newport for treatment of cancer when Newport was occupied by the British during the Revolutionary War.
