Biography of Richard Dole

"Richard1 Dole (WilliamA, RichardB), the immigrant, was baptized at Rangeworthy, Thornbury parish, co. Gloucester, on 31 December 1631, and died at Newbury, Massachusetts before 26 July 1705, when the inventory of his estate was taken. … He arrived in Newbury, Massachusetts, in 1639, as an apprentice to John2 Lowell, son of Percival1 Lowell. In his apprenticeship record at Bristol, dated 7 September 1637, he is listed as Richard Dole, son of William Dole from the parish of Thornbury, Gloucestershire, tanner, apprentice to John Lowle of the City of Bristol, glover, and his wife Mary."[1]

Richard Dole's Estate

"Richard Dole Sr. of Newbury executed his will on 25 May 1698. He mentioned his 'Dear & Loving Wife' [name not given] and his marriage contract with her 'baring Date Octobr 29 1690.' He also mentioned the heirs of his son John Dole, late of Newbury; daughter-in-law Mrs. Mary Dole, widow of his son John Dole; son Richard Dole; son William Dole; son Abner Dole (including land 'where Henry Dole was want to plant Cabadges'); daughter Hannah Moodey, wife of John Moodey; daughter Apphia Coffin, wife of Peter Coffin; and daughter-in-law Sarah Walker; executors: 'my Three Sons beforenamed viz. Richard dole William Dole & Abner Dole." The will was proved on 30 July 1706."[1]
