Richard Dewberry's origins have yet to be established. His first confirmed sighting is when he married Mary Perry on 8th January 1775 at Eversholt in Bedfordshire. They appear to have had three children together, who were baptised at Eversholt between 1775 and 1783. One of those children later gave their place of birth as Millbrook, a nearby village. It seems that Richard probably died at Millbrook, being buried there on 11th September 1782, although the burial register does not give his first name, referring instead to 'Duberry, labourer'.
