BITTENBENDER, RICHARD H. - age 83 of Loudon, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Park West Hospital. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict, a 60-year member of the American Legion. Member of the Huff VFW Post 5150 and Ivo Sanders American Legion Post 120 as well as the Loudon County Veterans Honor Guard where he faithfully attended and participated is providing military honors to his fellow servicemen and women. He retired from Monterey Mushroom with 20 years of service and he was of the Lutheran faith. Preceded in death by his son, Larry Bittenbender. Survivors are wife of 38 years, Janice Bittenbender; children, Gene, Desiree, Scott, Zane, Dodie and Cindy Bittenbender; sister, Mary Ann Hulzier; stepchildren, Dean and Sylvia; many grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services 7:00 PM Tuesday, McGill-Karnes Chapel, Rev. Gene Farmer officiating. The family will receive friends 5:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday prior to the service at McGill-Karnes Funeral Home, Loudon.
