... The same paper [The Pennsylvania Gazette], September 14, 1782: "We hear from London Britain Township, Chester County, that on Friday, 30th ult., departed this life in the twenty-sixth year of his age, Mr. Rees Jones Evans, only son of the Hon. John Evans. A remarkable sweetness of temper, affability and courtesy, rendered him esteemed in life and lamented in death. His sickness which was short, he bore with Christian patience and resignation. He expressed his entire confidence in the Redeemer's merits, and ardently desired the happy moment when he should breathe his soul into the bosom of his Savior. His remains were on the Sunday following deposited in the Baptist Burial Ground at the Welsh Tract. The concourse of people of characters and denominations that attended the solemnity mingled their tears with his disconsolate parent envinced their high esteem for the deceased and sensibility of their loss."
