Rebecca talked of sitting with Mrs. Washington, who taught her to sew, and when she left Valley Forge, gave her a variety of little articles, among others a silver knitting needle and thimble, a pincushion, and a needle-book, which were passed to her Rebecca's daughter in law, Lydia Biddle Baird.
