Rebecca Leonard-Dill -- In Memoriam. Rebecca Leonard, daughter of Henry and Barbara Lenard, was born in Lebanon county, Pa., the 19th of September, in the year of our Lord, 1807, and departed this life October 1st, of the present year. She was united in marriage to John Dill, i 1824, at East Germantown, with whom she lived until 1868, when he died. They first began house keeping at East Germantown, and afterwards moved to near Milton. After living there a few years, they moved in 1834 to the place now known as the Dill homestead, 3 miles northwest of Cambridge City. To this union was born 19 children, 5 of which preceded their mother to the Spirit Land, 4 died in infancy, and one at the age of 25 years. Of the fourteen children still living, there are seven sons and seven daughters. Henry Dill lives at Noblesville; John Dill and Susan Stezel, Huntington; Lucy Lawson, Exeter, Mo.; Rebecca Livengood, Centerville, Iowa; Matilda Bortsfield, Selma; Lydia Fischer, Colfax, Iowa; Jacob Dill, Rock Creek; Solomon Dill, Kalamazoo, Michigan; Harriet Osborne, Mingo, Iowa; David Dill, Payne, Ohio; Rachel Scheidler, William and Israel Dill, Cambridge City. Grandmother Dill was the grandmother of sixty-three children, the great-grandother of forty-nine children and the great-great-grandmother of two children. Grandmother always had good health until about four years ago, when she sprained her ankle, which afterwards produced rheumatism, and from that time until her death she suffered more or less from this disease. About a year ago her mind began to fail, and for the past six months she had been unable to recognize anyone and had been a helpless invalid and a great care and responsibility, requiring constant watching and nursing. Soon after moving to the present homestead she united with the Evangelical Association, of which she always remained a faithful and consistent member. Her heart and hands were always open for religious and benevolent purposes. To raise her children up in christian principles was her highest ambition, and how great has been her reward. She is gone, but her work still lives. And when the awards of the Giver of all things are made, Grandmother will not be forgotten. Funeral services at Pleasant Hill church this afternoon at 2 o'clock, by Rev. Jamison.

... John S. and Rebecca (Leonard) Dill, the former of whom was a native of Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, born in 1800, and the latter was born in Butler county, Ohio, in 1807. In 1820, as a boy of twenty years, John S. Dill immigrated to the new State of Indiana and helped to build the first house in Milton, having learned the carpenter trade in his native State. He later turned his attention to farming and the greater portion of his farm was reclaimed to cultivation under his direction ; and he became not only one of the substantial agriculturists of the county, but was also a citizen to whom was ever accorded the fullest measure of popular confidence and esteem. He was a man of forceful individuality, guided his life according to the strictest principles of integrity and honor, and wielded much influence in public affairs of a local nature. His political allegiance was given to the Republican party and both he and his wife were members of the Evangelical church. He was summoned to the life eternal in 1869, and his wife's death occurred in 1895.
