Rebecca Ann Mawhorter was born in Morrow County, Ohio, April 4, 1841, and died at her home near Wawaka, after an extended illness, Feb. 13, 1911, aged 69 years, 10 months and 9 days. Her father, Rev. Andrew Kesler was born in Lycoming County, Pa. Mrs. Maria Bowyer Kesler was a native of Morrow County, Ohio. Her parents came to Indiana in 1854, bringing their family, of which she was the third child. They settled on a farm near Rome City where they lived until their death. She married Aaron E. Mawhorter March 22, 1856 and they at once settled on the farm where they had a continuous residence excepting 3 or 4 years, until they died within 9 months of each other to a day. She was the mother of 2 daughters and one son. Funeral was in Cosperville Freewill Baptist Church. She leaves a son, William A. of Beaverton, Mich.; a son-in-law, I. N. Pancake of Wawaka; two sisters, Victoria in Washington state, Lottie Moyer near Rome City; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.
