  3. Source:Oak, Henry Lebbeus. Oak-Oaks-Oakes : Family Register, Nathaniel Oak of Marlborough, Mass., and Three Generations of His Descendants in Both Male and, p. 11, 19, names Rebecca as the wife of Jonathan Oaks. No record naming Jonathan's wife as Rebecca has been located, while the death date cited above appears to show such a marriage was impossible. Even if the death date was misrecorded and applies to the first Rebecca (the original, record 266, year is off the edge but in a group of deaths from 1725, and clearly 19 Sept.), this second Rebecca would only have been 16 when Jonathan's first daughter was born. The exact wording in this source, "born probably at death of her mother, July, 1727, but possibly September 10, 1725", suggests a scenario that would make her even younger. Clearly there is some guesswork going on here. Given that the basis for some of the assertions here is unknown, more research is needed.
