Raymond Winebrenner MCHENRY - Raymond "Deets" Winebrenner, 86, formerly of Mount Savage, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 03, 2004, at his daughter's home in McHenry. Born July 28, 1917, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late John Winebrenner and Minnie (Sweene) Winebrenner. He was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Ronald Winebrenner; six brothers, Charles, William, Arthur, Gus, Fred and Robert Winebrenner; and two sisters, Christina Wright and Mary Norris. Mr. Winebrenner attended the old Mount Savage School, was a member of the Mount Savage United Methodist Church, and he contributed to many local community organizations. He retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Company in 1980. Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Evelyn L. (Cassidy) Winebrenner; two daughters, Sherry Blank and friend Terry Boggs, McHenry, and Debbie Hice and husband Thomas, Newport News, Va; five grandchildren, Jeremy Blank, Pittsburgh, Christopher Blank, Cumberland, Jason Hice and Amanda Hice, Newport News, and Amber Lohr, Newark, Del.; and three great-grandchildren, Dale, Valerie and Jeremiah Lohr, Newark. In the small town of Mount Savage, he learned from an early age that the measure of a man was his word, his work and his integrity. A man of simple needs, and a humble, quite faith that was expressed through a lifetime of family devotion and work ethics. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Through the years he played several musical instruments, to the delight of his family, but his greatest joy was his grandchildren. He will live in our hearts forever. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard C. Broome Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Savage Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremy and Christopher Blank, Jason and Tom Hice, Terry Boggs and George Morgan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Garrett County, Inc., P.O. Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.
