Rankin Hays, a native of Ohio in Fayette Co. and his wife of New York, they were both devoted Christians and members of the Methodist Church. His wife died in 1860 at the age of 63 years, and Rankin died in 1864 at the age of 65. They had a family of ten children, namely; John C. Matilda, Ssherman, Andrew Jackson, David, M ichael,
Electa, Elizabeth, Angelina, and Mary. Benjamin Pierce Hays was born in 1810 in Fayette co. Ohio. He married Elizabeth Thompson on July 12th, 1828--JOP S. Dempsey. They had seven children. They moved to Champaign Illinois in the 1850's-- Elizabeth Hays married Horace Crookham. Mary Ann Hays married ? Bush. Hannah Hays married Hays Davis in 1814 and had two children, John David, and Jane. She died in 1849. Jane Hays married John B. Thompson and had eight children; John H. Elizabeth, Jackson, David, Mary Ann, Jane T., Presely and (Michael)?
They moved to Champaign Illinois where she later died on January 12th 1856.
