  2. ↑ Ralph A. Thiel, age 81, of Grafton, ND, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at his home in Grafton.

    Ralph A. Thiel was born on June 17, 1929 in Judson, ND, the son of the late Alvin and Elsie (Nickle) Thiel. He attended school there and graduated from Dunseith High School. After his education, he enlisted in the Army, and then transferred to the Air Force. Ralph then moved to Grafton and worked various jobs.

    He was united in marriage to Mary Schuster on April 15, 1961 in Grafton, ND. The couple made their home in Grafton until the time of his death.

    He was a member of the Grafton American Legion.

    Ralph is survived by his wife, Mary Thiel, Grafton, ND; daughters: Jacqueline "Jackie" (Dale) Johnson, Farmington, MN and Jennifer L. Thiel, Grafton, ND; step-daughter Jolene (Chuck) Nowacki, Mesa, AZ; step-son Craig (Nancy) Black, Grand Forks, ND; 2 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Ralph was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

    Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the service.

    Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Dunseith, ND. Military Rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post #41.
