Research Notes

Ralphs father Charles John Hultgren was born, lived and died in Galesburg, Illinois, so it is likely that Ralph was born there too. The family residence according to the baptism entry is 706 East Berrien St., which is in Galesburg. The Knox County Clerk had started recording births in 1878,[3] but a check with the county clerk confirmed there is no recorded birth for Ralph Clayton Hultgren in Knox County in 1894, or for 15 years prior or 15 years later.[4]
