    Ralph Holmes, former Bedford Basketball Coach, dies at 57.

    Ralph D. Holmes, 57, who helped put Bedford basketball on the map in 1940's as a coach of the Stonecutters, died suddenly at his mother's home in Sandborn, Indiana.

    He was born in Greene County, the son of Thaddeus and Lessie Sexton Holmes. He married Donna Speer on June 26, 1937, and she survives.

    Also surviving in addition to his mother, are one daughter, Carol Sue Holmes; one brother, Kenneth Holmes. One brother preceded him in death.

    Funeral services will be at Ives Poindexter Funeral Home in Sandborn and burial in the Lowder Cemetery near Springville.
