Following information from the book “A Chronicle of the Family of Gairdner) (1947, Taunton) by William Henry Bailey: Ralph Alexander CLAPPERTON was b. 2sep1903. Ralph Clapperton, Glasgow writer, Capt Royal Artillery in WWII, marr 27jun1934 Margaret (b. 25oct1910), dau of Charles Hardy Little and Marie Macindoe (dau of Patrick Macindoe, who was son of Alexander Patrick Macindoe, Auchentoshan); they had 3 children.

The grandfather was however not Alexander.

Ralph Alexander, son of late Alan E. Clapperton of Lochside, Lochwinnoch, became engaged to Dorothy Margaret Hardy Little, daughter of late C. Hardy Little, Demerara, British Guiana, and Mrs. Adams, Newquay, Cornwall, nov 1933 (Times). Ralph A. Clapperton married Dorothy M. Hardy Little 2nd qtr 1934 at Chelsea (bmd). Dorothy Margaret LITTLE was b. 25oct1910 (J. Aglen). Dorothy was daughter of Charles Hardy Little and Marie Margaret Macindoe.
