Matthias had a

, born in 1801, claimed by G. T. Ridlon's

to be an identical twin to Lydia, and hard to tell apart. This little story leads credence to the idea that the two Rachels could not be one person, made into two by a mixup of dates, since a person born 20 years earlier would not be mistaken for Lydia. However, Mr. Ridlon does not list this older Rachel at all. If we are to believe the baptismal record, which seems pretty clear, this older Rachel must have died bef. 1801 to make way for the younger Rachel. Given that the name Rachel wasn't reused until 1801, specifically not given to the
daughter that was named Sally
in 1798, perhaps this older Rachel lived at least until 1798?
