Notes

According to the Revolutionary Pension file of Rachel's husband, James Shields, she was granted a widow's Pension in Augusta County, Virginia in 1845 at age 82, per County Justice of the Peace John Newton, but her Find-A-Grave record has her date of death as December 1829. Rachel is listed in the 1810 and 1820 U.S. Census in Augusta County, Virginia.
