"Rachel Unthank was born the 9th of 2d month 1776 in Guilford County, NC, a daughter of Allen and Jemima (Hunt) Unthank. She was reared as a Quaker at New Garden Friends Meeting. In 1792, by a bond issued Nov. 28 in Guilford County, 16-year old Rachel married 33 year old Isaac Cook. Their first child, Anna, was born barely four months later, leading to the New Garden Friends dealing with both of them for their pre-marital behavior. They were disowned in 1793, but returned to to the fold after an apology to the meeting in 1795. In 1810 Isaac and Rachel moved their membership to Deep River Friends Meeting, a few miles from New Garden, but transferred back to New Garden in 1813. Isaac died in 1829, leaving Rachel a life estate in his farm and property. The will was finally probated and the farm divided in 1843 when Rachel decided to move with her two youngest children Isaac and Rachel and their families to Missouri. Isaac and Rachel had eleven children: Anna, Eli, Allen, Sarah, Jonathan, Jemima, Pleasant, Phebe, William U., Isaac, and Rachel. "
