!LAND RECORDS: The Upper Trappe grist mill operated throughout much of the nineteenth centur y. 10 Mar 1856, James Dashiell sold it to Winder Disharoon, William W. Disharoon and Josehu a T. Twilley, including 77 acres and a saw mill on the property. The tract was then called " The Widow's Cruise." William Disharoon died in 1863. 4 Aug 1863, the property was transferr ed to his heirs with the reservation that "...the right and privilege to get ice from the Mil l Pond is hereby reserved to James F. Dashiell and his heirs and to Joseph S. Cottman and hi s heirs" (Somerset Co. Deeds, Liber LW 8, folio 154). In September of 1863, the Disharoon he irs sold the property to Purnell Toadvine for $2500. Sidney Malone bought the mill in Oct. o f 1874 and sold it 11 Mar 1875 to Benjamin F. Messick (Somerset Co. Deeds, Liber LW 15, foli o 297).--pp. 125-126.
