Prudence lived as a widow for thirteen years. She remained in the parish of Bishop's Stortfod, and in her will, dated 14 September 1638 and proved 2 October 1638, gave to the poor prople of the parish 6s. Next she named son John Bird, to whom she gave "All my Tubbs & oth(e)r househould stuffe of myne w(hi)ch he hath now in his possesion...Prudence also bequeathed "to my sonne in lawe Martin Kellog my new chest, a good p(ai)r of sheets & a flaxen smoke." She appointed "John Rowell my sonne in lawe" executor and gave him the "rest & residue of my goods".
