Prudence Temple ye daughter of Isaac Temple & Prudence his wife was Born decemb'r 5th 1692.

  2.   It is not known what the basis is for identifying Samuel's wife's maiden name as Temple. It is found on several websites and a few books (e.g., Source:Day, Edward Warren. One Thousand Years of Hubbard History, 866 to 1895, p. 223; Source:Edmund Rice (1638) Association, here, citing Source:Edmund Rice (1638) Association. Supplement to the Rice Family : A Supplement to 1858 (image 8, #295, viewable here); Source:Crane, Ellery B. Historic Homes and Institutions and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of Worcester County, Massachusetts Vol. 4, p. 365), all without explanation. Clearly, there was no marriage record giving her name, and no probate for Isaac Temple has been located, no death has been found to correlate the age at death, etc. The only Prudence Temple found in the records of age to marry around 1721 is the daughter of Isaac. Possibly naming her only son Isaac has created an assumption that seems to fit. Samuel's will oddly gives his widow privileges until "her second marriage", indicating her marriage to Samuel was her first.

Source:Temple, Levi Daniel. Some Temple Pedigrees, a Genealogy of the Known Descendants of Abraham Temple, Who Settled in Salem, Mass. in 1636, p. 13, shows Prudence marrying Ebenezer Olds, but the marriage record actually names the wife of Ebenezer Olds as Rebecca, both the marriage records in Concord and Suffield. Rebecca is also the mother named in the births of children in Suffield. No marriage is shown for Rebecca in Temple Pedigrees, so presumably this mismatch for Prudence was simply confusion by this particular source.
