  2. The new edition of Source:Washburne, Brenton P. Washburn Family in America suggests that Polly was the daughter "Marcy" (per Rehoboth Vital Records) [called Mary by this source], b. 1767 to Simeon and Jemima (Gay) Washburn. Simeon and Jemima moved to Keene about 1779 per deeds. They also had a daughter Molly b. 1765, which is a better match to Polly's age at death than Marcy would be, but still not great. This source apparently removed Molly from consideration by saying Molly m. 1800 Elkanah Cook in Kingston, MA, but besides the unlikely marriage location for a girl born in Rehoboth that moved to Keene, Source:Holman, Mary Lovering. Descendants of William Sherman of Marshfield, Massachusetts, p. 61, says Elkanah Cook m. Polly (Wadsworth) Washburn, widow of Jabez Washburn, i.e., a different Molly Washburn. So Molly is available to be Polly (Washburn) Tufts. No evidence has been found to show this conclusively, but she seems a possible match, worth further investigation. Marcy seems unlikely.
