Pleasant Jim Huddleston was born August 16, 1886, at Cottondale,TX, in Wise County. He died May 30, 1913, and is buried at theCottondale Cemetery. He was carrying a gun and while goingthrough a fence with his two year old son, Pleasant JimHuddleston, Jr., (Oct. 1910) the gun discharged. He made it tothe house and died with his head in his wife's lap. Her namewas Hattie Kelly. He also left a nine month old baby, BeaufordFloyd Huddleston (Aug. 1912). He has a Woodman of the Worldstone just across the sidewalk from my grandfather, Matt EctorHuddleston, who died of typhoid fever in 1919 leaving his wifewith a 10 year old, an 8 year old, and 6 month old twinbabies. In addition to the fact that Pleasant Jim and Matt bothdied young and left young families. Pleasant Jim's sons diedclose together--Floyd on May 23, 1996, and P. J. on June 11,1996. My father, Waldon G. Huddleston died July 4, 1993, andhis twin, Aldon C. died on Aug. 8, 1993. I just thought it wasunusual for brothers to die that close together. We also foundthat several members of both of these families have diabetes.
